This page outlines guidelines for formating and wiki use. Its purpose is to help you the user to create articles and edits of high quality for the rest of the community to enjoy.

For specific rules pertaining to the use of the EVElopedia, please see the EVElopedia Policies article.

EVElopedia Quality[edit | edit source]

To maintain quality of the articles, these simple guidelines can help you write the highest quality articles.

  • Write from a neutral point of view. It allows us to make a fair representation of the EVE universe. Even though information can be verified, it is still important to keep balance so it conveys a fair impression of the various points on a subject.
  • Your article should not contain slander or other bigotry towards another player, corporation, alliance or other entities. To maintain the neutrality of articles this is very important. Articles violating this will not go through moderation.
  • For new pages/articles, if you intend to only write a small amount initially, but come back to it later, please use one of the stub templates so that the moderators know you intend to return to it later. Please do not create placeholder, or empty pages.

EVElopedia Good Practice[edit | edit source]

Or how to become a good Wiki contributer.

  • Try to follow MediaWiki formatting.
  • You are encouraged to update content; this is a wiki and thrives on you making amendments and adding new pages.
  • Title the pages and sections clearly, imagine you have only just entered the EVE universe. See our naming conventions for a more detailed look at article naming.
  • If you are using abbreviations make sure the first mention has an explanation before it e.g. The Council for Stellar Management (CSM).
  • If you see an article which you genuinely think is inaccurate use our flagging system. Flagging articles helps us maintain a great wiki for everyone.
  • Provide sources wherever relevant.
  • Maintain civility at all times.
  • Use the talk pages, if unsure about something. Discuss on the forums or with your fellow players.
  • Assume good faith of your fellow contributors. Try to consider the person on the other end of the discussion to be a thinking rational being, who is trying to positively contribute to EVElopedia. Even if you are convinced of his evil plots.
  • Be gracious; try to accommodate other people's quirks the best you can and be polite, solid and straightforward.
  • Sign (--~~~~) on talk pages but don't sign on main space articles.
  • Don't infringe copyright. Everything from the EVE universe is good, but be careful of either images or text that are copyrighted.
